October marks National Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) and the one year anniversary of the Las Vegas mass shooting.
First and foremost, I ask that we each take a moment to commemorate those who lost their lives last October 1, honor their memory and applaud the incredible resiliency of our community.
As we watched our city unite, tragically, we began to see a slow, but steady uptick in domestic violence incidents.
Sadly, this is not an unusual occurrence. We see this trend happening time and time again across our country. After incidents of mass violence, statistically the rates of domestic violence increase — resulting in an even greater need for crisis and prevention services for victims.
Our mission at SafeNest is to end domestic violence one client at a time by providing the most comprehensive preventative and crisis services in Clark County. October is a national commemorative month, designed to raise awareness about domestic violence, but at SafeNest we strive to prevent, protect and empower victims EVERY DAY.
We take this opportunity to ask each of you, friends of SafeNest, to mark October in one or all of the following ways:
We are thankful to be a part of this incredible community and proud to call ourselves Vegas St rong.
